Who We Are

Pamela H. Daugavietis (Executive Producer), local freelance writer and personal historian, is currently working on a book, Through the Eyes of a Child: The Story of the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Daniel Garcia (Director) worked as a creative advertising writer for television commercials and institutional documentaries before moving to the U.S. He obtained an M.A. in Communications at Wheaton College and later an MFA in Filmmaking at Ohio University at Athens. He teaches Media Production at Calvin College.

Steve Goolian (Interviewer) is an award-winning video producer, writer and editor. He serves individuals and families wishing to preserve their memories and stories in the form of personal history videos, as well as businesses and organizations who wish to document and share their heritage with their audiences. He also produces marketing, communications, and training videos for a variety of clients.

Bill Martindill (Planted the seed; Fundraiser) and his wife Inetta have been residents of Grand Rapids since 1958, when Bill purchased the Michigan Lithographing Company. Born in 1910 in Hamden Junction, Ohio, Bill inspired the S.O.U.L. of Philanthropy project with his many stories about the virtue of prosperity in the Greater Grand Rapids Area, and about those who created and shared their prosperity to benefit all citizens of our great community.

Deb Moore (Interviewer) pursues her love of local and family history as a personal historian and has helped many people preserve their life stories in book form through her company, The Stories of Your Life, founded in 2003. Deb also writes business and organizational histories.

Jennifer Morrison (Research, Interviewer) has more than 20 years of experience working for historical organizations throughout Michigan. She is on the board of the Greater Grand Rapids Women's History Council and is vice president of the Grand Rapids Historical Society. Her company, MI-Stories.com, helps people preserve their life stories in audio and print.

John Morrison (Producer) has an eclectic work history including writing and event planning for local radio and television stations. He coordinated the 2005 annual conference of the Association of Personal Historians held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. John and his wife Jennifer together own and operate MI-Stories.com.

Gordon Olson (Consultant) served as Grand Rapids City Historian for 25 years and is the author of numerous local history books as well as business and organizational histories. Among many other projects, he has completed personal histories for local foundations, videotaped interviews of federal judges, and coordinated oral history projects between students and veterans. His latest book, Thin Ice, is a collection of stories about coming-of-age experiences in the lives of local residents.

Annette Remsburg (Interviewer) is an Educator and Lifelong Learner. Her published book, Rural Reality: Sixty Years of Iowa Farm Family Life, includes excerpts from diaries kept by her mother from 1940-2000. Many readers find her “voice” is enlightening as she brings the past to the present for the sake of the future. She enjoys volunteering at the FM Children's Garden and tutoring with the Literacy Council of West Michigan. Annette welcomes ways to give of her time and talent.

Chad Vickery (Editor) is a graduate of Calvin College and freelance filmmaker. He works on numerous short film projects in Grand Rapids, is on the board of the Division Avenue Arts Cooperative, and plays with various musical groups around town. He is currently involved in the S.O.U.L. of Philanthropy project as film editor.
